 이경남 비움아트®  작가 노트 (Artist Statement) 

비움, 그것은 질문과 답이 멈춘 존재 자체의 충만한 순간입니다. 우리가 흔히 '나'라고 부르는 것은 눈에 보이는 몸이나 일시적인 조건들이 전부가 아닙니다. 그 너머에는 어떤 조건에도 물들지 않고, 형태가 없으며, 무한한 배경으로 존재하는 의식이 있습니다. 시간의 흐름에 쫓기지 않고 이 진정한 '나'를 온전히 바라보는 것, 그리고 그 맑은 눈으로 평범한 하루하루를 살아가는 순간 진짜 삶의 모험은 시작됩니다.

저는 이 텅 빈, 그러나 온전히 깨어있는 비움의 상태로 가위와 한지를 듭니다. 복잡한 생각이나 거창한 계획은 내려놓습니다. 그저 질문을 멈추고 종이를 오려내는 단순한 행위를 통해, 비움 속에 접혀 있던 질서가 일상의 평범한 종이 위로 그 형태를 펼쳐냅니다. 무한해진 지금 이 순간, 내면의 공간에 접혀있던 미지의 것이 새로운 존재(개별화된 형상)로 펼쳐질 때 저는 조건 없는 큰 사랑과 기쁨을 경험합니다.

비움과 형태, 그 관계를 통찰하는 순간 비움아트®는 우리 눈앞에 드러납니다. 이러한 자각이 열릴 때, 예술적 창조성은 특별한 소수만의 것이 아니라 누구에게나 나타날 수 있습니다. 비움아트®는 누구나 자신의 배경에 자리한 무한성을 발견할 수 있도록 안내하는 하나의 길입니다.

Vium (空, Emptiness) represents a moment of existential completeness where questions and answers cease. What is commonly defined as the 'self' is not limited to the visible body or temporary circumstances. Beyond these elements exists an unconditioned, formless consciousness functioning as an infinite background. The genuine exploration of life commences when one observes this true self apart from the flow of time and navigates daily life with this clear perspective. I utilize scissors and Hanji (traditional Korean paper) with this empty, yet fully awakened state of Vium. Complex thoughts and structured plans are set aside. Through the direct act of cutting paper without questioning, the order folded within Vium takes form upon ordinary paper. In this infinite present moment, as the unknown within the inner space expands into a new existence (individualized form), I experience unconditional love and joy. 비움아트® (Vium Art™) manifests the moment the relationship between emptiness and form is comprehended. Upon this realization, artistic creativity emerges not as an exclusive trait, but as a universal potential. 비움아트® (Vium Art™) serves as a pathway, guiding individuals to discover the infinity residing within their own background.
